The transition for being based in Victoria to Mackay, Queensland and into Dixon Homes cycling team has been a great experience. I have come off a good track season. Performing well at Victorian Titles, just missing out on National section and riding some big events like the Bendigo International Madison. I have come into the team wanting a good season of racing, with no particular goals in mind other than a consistent season of racing and training. With hopefully some good individual and team results on the way.
We are very early in the road season at the moment and we have already shown some promise with good solid results at club level and at the North Queensland games. I’m looking forward to the up and coming Tour De Tablelands in Cairns; it will be a good challenge and give the team a good idea of where we are at.
I have been lucky enough to get a job working the bike store with Evan and Ryan Corry. So work is flexible enough to fit in a good 20-30 hours of training a week. Training in Mackay provides it advantages, being able to train in the early morning with only a short sleeve jersey and shorts is a novelty for me. In Bendigo, where I come from it is not uncommon for the mornings to be below zero with plenty of frosts.
So the season is early with plenty to look forward to.
